It’s Raining, It’s Pouring…Just Dance!

Hello ladies,

Here in the northeast, it has rained for the last 6 days.  Yes!  It has rained over and over again…nonstop.  It is so interesting to hear people talk about the rain.  “It is awful outside!” ”It’s another bad day!” “The weather has been horrible!”  These are just a few comments that I have heard during this “Noah” period.  Why does rain get a negative rap?  Could it be that it can ruin a perfectly fab hair style or destroy a fierce pair of shoes?  Ironically, rain is necessary for our earth to live, reproduce and bring forth fruit! Without it we would not be able to survive.  Without rain, there is no growth.

Just imagine life with no rain.  Dead trees, dry lawns, empty reservoirs, and bare rose bushes.  Yes it is inconvenient and messy!  Yes it slows down our travel plans and causes bad hair days, but it adds so much more to the joy of our lives.  After the rain has fallen, we wake the next morning  to see flowers blooming and grass sprouting.

Rain is much like the many hurdles we encounter in our life journeys.  Challenges can be disruptive, frustrating, and overwhelming. However, if we embrace the growth that comes from enduring through the storm, we become like that grass that shoots up quicker and higher than normal.

Do you feel like you have been in a monsoon?  Instead of running from the rain or complaining about the discomfort it causes, I dare you to dance in the downpour.  Literally, go outside and allow yourself to experience what the trees and grass feel.  So your clothes get wet…put them in the dryer!  Your hair gets messed up…call your hairdresser!

Face your challenges like the trees and the grass face the rain…go with the flow. God knows the plans he has for you so dance, dance, dance in the midst of the storm!

Doing a two-step with you right now!

Dr. Sunne

Envision the rain as your abundant overflow and REMEMBER to keep digging ditches to collect your blessings!

This reminds me of a day when I got caught in the rain with my family. We went out to an amusement park. The skies were dark when we got there, but all the while we were expecting the best. Well, things never got better. We were able to see a few attractions, go on one ride, and have lunch with characters in the park. It was fun, but the fun was really just beginning as we waited for the parade of characters to dance and sing through the park. Just as they started down the parade route, the floodgates opened… We thought maybe we could wait it out. The rain only poured harder. Finally we realized we were in a complete monsoon. There was nothing we could do, but run to the car. But in all of that… we were laughing and running. What seemed like something that had ruined our time, actually turned out to be a great family memory! I actually like the rain!
