Got GAS?

This is a question that many of us ponder each and every day with the rising cost of fuel at the pump. Do I have enough gas to get to and from work? Do I have enough gas to transport my children to and from daycare or school? Do I have enough gas to run errands? And Lord knows, do I have enough gas to get to and from my place of worship…lol (you better:)? These questions are then followed by or coupled with the constant murmuring and complaining about the absurd increases in the cost of living in this country. This conversation is being had every where and cannot be escaped, nor ignored and I get that…I get it; However, I began to ask myself the question, Are we focusing too much on the cost of gas and not enough attention to G.A.S. (God’s All Sufficiency)?

Please understand me when I tell you that I understand the level of concern many have expressed, but I wonder if these concerns are justified in fear or faith. If you are not sure, perhaps we can narrow it down; Do you find yourself prolonging the process of re-fueling? Are you stretching out that tank of gas until the yellow warning light comes on and tells you that you only have a few miles left? Do you find yourself sacrificing your vehicles actual fuel grade (i.e. the car requires mid-89/prem-93, but you’re using reg-87)? When was the last time you pulled into the gas station and said fill it up? Or do you put just enough in the tank for the days journey?

The aforementioned questions are all an apparent sign of perceived lack, which lends itself to fear. Fear then matriculates into anxiety (especially when you look at how fast the gas meter runs up on your tab:). Anxiety then u-turns into frustration. Frustration then escalates to an extreme resentment of feeling insufficient.

Ironically, similar questions apply here in faith. Do you find yourself prolonging the process of prayer, praise, and worship? Are you stretching out your faith until your inner man becomes spiritually anemic and you are giving out of an empty vessel? Do you find yourself sacrificing your allotted time to reconnect with the SOURCE, but you continuously busy yourself with the cares of the world? When was the last time you pulled into your place of worship and/or prayer closet and said fill me up LORD with all of YOU and none of me? Or do you pray amiss in the fleeting moments of crisis during the day? None of these questions are meant to condemn anyone, but to stir up our faith in GOD and not in the current circumstances around us. These are all normal emotions based on human survival, but we need to ask ourselves when was the last time we fueled up on G.A.S. (God’s All Sufficiency)?

God’s All Sufficiency in His grace, mercy, and favor towards us is unlimited. The Word of God tells us in 2nd Corinthians 9:8, “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.” Wow, He promised you and I all grace, always having, all sufficiency, in all things..not just some things, in abundance. If that does not sound like a lifetime guarantee in perpetual provision for the believer, I don’t know what is…Selah (pause)! In addition, the scripture 2nd Cor. 5:7 encourages us to “Walk by faith, not by sight.”

In short,  make sure you F.U.E.L. (Faith Usurps Every Limitation) up on G.A.S. (God’s All Sufficiency) first before fueling up your gas tank.

God Speed,

Min. Kyle

The pneumonics are great for the memory! They serve as quick reminders during the day when your flesh starts to trip out and worry or stress starts to creep in… Just F.U.E.L up! That's something great for everyone to carry through each and every day!
